IELTS Writing Checker — FAQ
Is the IELTS writing checker really free?
Yes. You can check an IELTS Task 1 or Task 2 essay and get an instant overall band score plus a per-criterion breakdown with no account and no payment. Create a free account to unlock one full AI assessment — the complete examiner-style report with annotated feedback.
How accurate is the band score?
The checker grades against the official IELTS band descriptors for all four writing criteria: Task Achievement/Response, Coherence and Cohesion, Lexical Resource, and Grammatical Range and Accuracy. The score is an estimate to guide your practice, produced against the public band descriptors. It is not a predicted or official IELTS result, and it can differ from an examiner’s mark.
Do I need to create an account to check my essay?
No. The free checker works without signing up. When you want the full report — inline annotations, a roadmap to Band 7, and model rewrites of your own paragraphs — create a free account to get one full AI assessment at no cost.
Does it work for both Task 1 and Task 2?
Yes. Choose Task 2 for opinion, discussion and problem–solution essays, or Task 1 for Academic reports describing a chart, graph, table or process. Each is graded against the descriptors specific to that task.
How long does my essay need to be?
The free checker needs at least 50 words to produce a reliable estimate. For a real IELTS result, Task 1 answers should be at least 150 words and Task 2 essays at least 250 words — the checker flags under-length responses just like an examiner would.
What do I get if I upgrade?
A free account gives you one full AI assessment. When you are preparing seriously, the IELTS Exam Pass unlocks unlimited assessments across all four skills — a one-time payment for a full prep cycle, with no subscription.
